Following in the footsteps of Scott Dixon, Shane Van Gisbergen, Jono Lester, Mitch Evans and Richie Stanaway the final round of the Vortex Formula First NZ Championship the first step in single seater racing was held at Taupo last weekend.

The Championship was won for the 2nd year by Rowan Shepherd (Palmerston North) having been to the Motorsport NZ Elite Academy last year with Cory Holmes (Auckland) 2nd and Taylor Cockerton (Sth Auckland) 3rd. The final points table is listed below.

However, the Vortex Racewear Formula First Championship is very pleased to announce that Toyota New Zealand is to provide a free test drive to the winner of the NZ Formula First Championship, Toyota New Zealand is committed to seeing young New Zealand people competing at the highest level in Motorsport.

Toyota New Zealand currently operates both the very successful Toyota Racing Series (Our premier Single Seater category) and the new TR86 an exciting race-ready sports car racing series. With many of the top runners in the 2013/14 Championship heading for other classes (2 to TRS tests) next year will be wide open.
