Top Singaporean karter coming downunder for TRS berth

Toyota Racing Series

Hot on the heels of this week’s announcement of seven drivers for the 2013 Toyota Racing Series comes news of another young racer who will contest the series.

Andrew Tang, Singapore, will race TRS after several years of karting on the world circuit where his results include fourth in the 2012 FIA-CIK KF2 Championship and a win in the Formula 125 Senior Open class in the 2011 Asian Karting Open Championship.

Like many young racers, Tang has his sights set firmly on the ultimate challenge: Formula One.

Unlike many of his rivals, he has already taken a step in that direction: he met with McLaren F1 boss Ron Dennis in Singapore this year and has already undergone the team’s rigorous physical and mental fitness evaluation. McLaren mapped out the next moves in the 17 year old’s career path and he has made the move into racing single seaters.

Andrew Tang will drive with ETEC Motorsport, joining Tanart Sathienthirakul who has karted with Andrew on the same European team.
